What could your organization accomplish if you knew the future?

By Nick Ruffin, AMR Director of Business Development

ASAE and the Center published last year a remarkable resource for both association leaders and Association Management Company (AMC) staff. The book Designing Your Future: Key Trends, Challenges, and Choices Facing Association and Nonprofit Leaders outlines 50 key trends broken down into the categories of Political, Economic, Environmental, Technological, and Socio-demographical changes. Each key trend is broken down into multiple sets of information such as the timeframe, potential impacts, implications and opportunities for associations, and others.

Nonprofits can use this research to get ahead of these global changes and be positioned to both minimize potential negative impacts, and more importantly they can be ready to take advantage of the new opportunities that can really set them apart. Nonprofits that can do this successfully will provide incredible value to their members and the industries they represent.

AMC’s can add this research to their “tool box” as an important value add that can be provided to their client partners. Here at AMR, we have ordered this publication for all of our Account Executives as well as Functional Department Managers and held an all day facilitated retreat to educate our staff on these trends and the possible ways in which our clients can use this research.

Is your organization thinking about what the future holds? How could your organization benefit from this publication?
