Leadership

John A. Ruffin, MBA, CAE
President & CEO
As President & CEO, John Ruffin is responsible for providing leadership and direction to sustain AMR's growth and develop long-term strategic goals for the company. Before John and Shirley Ruffin purchased the company in 1997, John worked in private industry for 3 years as senior vice president of government services for a national technology consulting firm and served 22 years with the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services in management and executive positions.

John has been president of three associations and served on many boards and executive committees. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) where he serves on the Key AMC Committee and the CAE Commission. John earned his certified association executive (CAE) credential in January 2006 and subsequent recertifications. John is also a member of the AMC Institute, where he served on the board for over six years, was president from 2005-2007 and he continues to serve on several task forces. He led AMR to earn charter accreditation from the AMC Institute in 2002 and subsequent reaccreditations. Accreditation is based on meeting the Standard of Good Practice for Association Management Companies adopted by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). John is also an active member of Vistage International, the world's largest CEO organization.

 

Shirley T. Ruffin
Executive Vice President
As Executive Vice President and co-owner of AMR Management Services with husband, John Ruffin, Shirley is involved in all facets of the company. She has a degree in technology and a professional background in the financial and technology industries. Shirley serves as the Executive Leadership Team’s internal consultant to ensure client satisfaction is exceeded, strategic focus, and long-term sustainable success is achieved while driving results through a collaborative team approach. Prior to AMR, Shirley was an insurance coordinator and payroll assistant for a technology consulting company in Memphis, Tennessee and a financial secretary at a large church in Jackson, Mississippi. Shirley is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the AMC Institute.

 

Eric Kenoyer, SPHR
Vice President of Development
As Vice President of Development, Eric is responsible for the development and execution of AMR’s Sales, Marketing, and Human Resources Strategies. Eric provides innovative solutions for driving AMR’s growth while developing HR systems and programs to ensure AMR’s intellectual capital is positioned to deliver professional services for AMR’s clients in accordance with the ANSI Standards of Good Practices for the Association Management Industry.

Before joining AMR, Eric worked 6 years in a sales and marketing role for a major pharmaceutical company and brings over 10 years of professional Human Resources experience.

Eric holds Bachelors of Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He is also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Vistage International, and is the Past-President of the Bluegrass Compensation Association.

 

Nick Ruffin
Vice President of Strategic Partnerships
As the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Nick provides leadership to AMR’s shared services division by providing direct oversight of the finance, technology, member records, conferences and events, creative services and administrative support departments. Nick works with these teams to ensure AMR provides high quality and timely services in accordance with the ANSI Standard of Good Practices for the Association Management Industry.

Nick is also responsible for leading client transitions, and supports John in building and maintaining strong relationships with our client partners to ensure expectations are being met, and exceeded.

Nick holds a Bachelors Degree in Business and Economics from Mississippi State University, is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), a member of Vistage International, and is currently working towards earning his Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification.
