Khanna Elected President of AMR Client NASCIO, Association Officers Also Named

(Lexington, KY) - The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) is pleased to announce that Gopal Khanna, Minnesota CIO, has been elected to serve as NASCIO President for its 2008-2009 program year. Khanna will replace Iowa CIO/COO John Gillispie who served as association President for the 2007-2008 program year.

The membership also elected several new officers and directors for the association. The following are the new and returning officers and directors:

Officers

  • President – Gopal Khanna, Chief Information Officer, Minnesota
  • Vice President – Gary Robinson, Chief Information Officer, Washington
  • Secretary/Treasurer – Kyle Schafer, Chief Technology Officer, West Virginia
  • Past-President – John Gillispie, Chief Operating Officer, Iowa

Elected Directors (two-year terms)

  • Joe Fleckinger - Chief Information Officer, Oklahoma
  • Steve Fletcher, Chief Information Officer, Utah
  • Mike Locatis, Chief Information Officer, Colorado
  • Teri Takai, Chief Information Officer, California

The newly elected directors are join returning Executive Committee directors Mark Bengel, CIO of Tennessee, Otto Doll, CIO of South Dakota, Tom Jarrett, CIO of Delaware and Dick Thompson, CIO of Maine.

The new leadership officially took effect immediately following NASCIO's State Dinner on the evening of September 23, 2008.

NASCIO is the premier network and resource for state CIOs and a leading advocate for technology policy at all levels of government. NASCIO represents state chief information officers and information technology executives from the states, territories, and the District of Columbia. The primary state government members are senior officials who have executive level and statewide responsibility for information technology leadership. State officials who are involved in agency level information technology management may participate as state members. Representatives from other public sector and non-profit organizations may also participate as associate members. Private sector firms may join as corporate members and participate in the Corporate Leadership Council.
