Global Principles for Socially Responsible Associations & Nonprofits

The Global Principles for Associations in Social Responsibility was developed by ASAE and the Center through the Global Summit for Social Responsibility in the spring of 2008. With principles aligned to those of the “United Nation’s Global Compact”, the goal of these guidelines is to allow associations to determine “our destiny as a professional sector with a unique role to play in the global problem-solving arena.”

AMR Management Services recognizes the importance of acting as a socially responsible company and setting that example for all client partner associations. We believe that upholding these guidelines will enable us to be more effective and contribute on a higher level to our industry and community.

The following principles were identified for associations to adopt and abide by in an effort of total and transparent social responsibility:

  • Responsible Advocacy: Associations agree to advocate and truthfully represent these principles in their communities and deter against all forms of fraud.
  • Environmental and Economic Sustainability: Associations will encourage environmentally sound practices, promote environmentally and economically sustainable business conduct, engage with industry leaders to foster further development of environmental principles and contribute to the professions they represent to help them achieve these goals.
  • Public Protection: Within the segments of ethics, self-regulation, and human rights associations will act and communicate proper ethical standards, and respect the rights of others within their organization and profession.
  • Diversity: Associations commit to valued diversity with their organization, profession, and promote involvement and engagement opportunities regardless of social or biological differences.
  • Philanthropy/Community Service: Associations should and will seek to build relationships, create a knowledge and awareness of needs and develop experiences to give back within their respective communities.
  • Leadership: Lastly, associations must serve as a leader and promote socially responsible leaders within their organizations and professions. Associations in this aspect should set standards, and principles within the industries they represent to achieve these goals.
