Washington, DC, March 23, 2010 -- The Certified Association Executive (CAE) Commission has announced that John A. Ruffin, MBA, CAE, President & CEO of AMR Management Services (headquartered in Lexington, KY) was recently appointed to serve on the CAE Commission. The CAE Commission is an independent certifying body of the American Society of Association Executives.
The CAE Commission awards the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential and is responsible for setting policy and standards related to the CAE program. The Commission is composed of up to thirteen voting members, twelve of whom have earned and maintained the CAE designation and represent the diversity of the association industry, and one who represents consumers of association services.
The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE. Those designated as CAEs must have a minimum of three years experience in nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 75 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 3,800 association professionals in all 50 states and 8 countries currently hold the CAE credential. 2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the CAE program. The CAE program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) is a membership organization of more than 22,000 association executives and industry partners representing more than 11,000 organizations.
